7R to develop distribution centre for Pepco in Poland

Commercial real estate 7R is constructing a new 51,000 m2 logistics centre for Pepco in Barniewice, near Gdańsk, Poland.

Under a long-term agreement, discount retailer Pepco Polska has leased the entire functional warehouse and office space in the facility.

Pepco has over 4,100 stores across 18 markets and more than 31,000 employees. It will utilise this new distribution centre to enhance its operational capabilities and support further expansion. The company, which primarily relies on intermodal transport (road and sea) for its logistics, currently operates five distribution centres across Europe. The new facility will optimise direct deliveries to stores, improving last-mile efficiency.

The logistics centre, part of 7R Park Gdańsk V, is strategically located in Barniewice, just 2.5 km from the S6 Tricity Metropolitan Bypass and 18 km from the Baltic Hub container terminal in Gdańsk. Its proximity to the ports of Gdańsk and Gdynia, as well as Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport and its cargo terminal (only 4 km away), will facilitate international distribution.

Developed in a Build-to-Suit (BTS) model, the facility will incorporate numerous environmentally friendly solutions to meet sustainability goals and reduce energy costs. These include photovoltaic panels, LED lighting with a DALI control system, and electric vehicle charging stations. The project aims for BREEAM Excellent certification.
