Aequitas will focus on connecting international investors with complex, value-add, and restructuring real estate opportunities, primarily in German residential and office markets.

The company plans to prioritise portfolio transactions, club deals for development sites, and corporate takeovers, aiming for an investment volume of approximately €1 bn in the next three to five years.

Led by co-founders and managing partners Bergander (also proprietor of Taurecon) and Frank (formerly of Adler Group), Aequitas leverages their extensive experience and networks. The firm will collaborate with strategic partners for specific projects, including Michael Zahn for deal sourcing and investor engagement, Francesco Fedele (CEO of BF.direkt) for structuring and debt raising, and Kristian J. Heiser (partner at Raschke von Knobelsdorff Heiser) for legal deal structuring.

Sven-Christian Frank said: “Today, successful investments require the seamless integration of deal flow, capital access and operational implementation skills. This is precisely where we are positioning Aequitas. Our long-term objective is to set up a leading platform for complex real estate transactions and institutional investments in the DACH region of German-speaking countries.”

Thomas Bergander added: “Following years of rising property valuations, value creation in the real estate market is once again driven by active management and smart structures. Many market players face refinancing and restructuring challenges at a time when institutional investors are being more selective than ever. This opens up entry opportunities with attractive risk-return profiles. We believe that now is the right time to build up a specialised investment platform that brings together capital, deal sourcing and implementation skills in a one-stop shop.”
