Barings names new European Real Estate Equity portfolio chief

Global real estate investment manager Barings has appointed Jorge Zawerthal Duarte as its head of Portfolio Management, European Real Estate Equity.

In this role, Zawerthal Duarte will be responsible for leading Barings' European Real Estate Equity Portfolio Management team, focusing on developing strategies and implementing investment solutions for various vehicles, including commingled funds, joint ventures, and separate accounts.
He will also serve on the European Real Estate Equity Investment and Valuation Committees, collaborating closely with executive management, client portfolio management, distribution, research, strategy, and the heads of equity transactions and asset management.
Zawerthal Duarte returns to Barings after working at Hines as a senior managing director, where he was in charge of their Core Plus platform and the Hines European Property Partners (HEPP) fund. During his previous nearly seven-year tenure at Barings, he held the position of fund manager for the European Real Estate team and was a member of the European Management Committee.
