Jonas Hitz, previously with light industrial property investor and developer BEOS, will be based in Berlin and oversee the broader German market. His responsibilities include identifying and securing both core-plus and value-add investment opportunities, as well as development sites throughout Germany. Initially, the focus will be on the top seven German cities: Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, and Munich, along with other major population centres.

Chancerygate has been developing its European platform for the past three years. Currently, the company has over 80,000 m2 of Grade A multi-let urban logistics space under construction or ready for development across five sites in Ireland, Spain, and Portugal.

In the UK, Chancerygate has approximately 204,386 m2 of urban logistics space under construction or ready for development across 15 sites. Additionally, the company manages more than £700 mln (€820 mln) in income-producing investment assets across the UK and Europe, with an investment portfolio comprising over 540 units totaling more than 436,644 m2 of commercial space.

Jonas Hitz commented on his new role: “In Germany, there is a lack of new high-specification, strategically-located multi-let urban logistics space which is built to the latest ESG-related regulations. There is also increasing demand for this type of accommodation from a wide range of occupiers, which makes it the ideal time for Chancerygate to launch here.”

Chancerygate head of Europe Nikolay Velev added: “Jonas combines excellent market knowledge with the entrepreneurial instincts and experience needed to help us rapidly build momentum in Germany. This is a major market with significant long-term potential for our business, and his appointment gives us the ideal basis from which to identify opportunities, build relationships and grow our presence.”
