CMA seeks views on Prologis–Segro merger ahead of formal inquiry

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has begun gathering initial feedback on Prologis’ proposed acquisition of Segro, issuing an invitation to comment as it prepares for a potential Phase one merger inquiry.

The CMA opened the case on 27 October 2026 and is inviting interested parties to submit views on how the transaction could affect competition in the UK. The consultation runs until 10 November 2026. The regulator has not yet launched its formal investigation but has received the information required to begin pre‑notification.

The invitation to comment marks the first step in the CMA’s information‑gathering process. Once Phase 1 formally begins, the authority will set deadlines for its initial decision on whether the merger raises competition concerns requiring further review.

Prologis’ proposed €17 billion acquisition of Segro would create one of Europe’s largest logistics real estate platforms, significantly expanding Prologis’ UK and continental footprint. The CMA’s review will assess whether the enlarged group could reduce competition in industrial and logistics markets, particularly in regions where both companies hold substantial portfolios.
