EIB Group and BBVA provide €185m for sustainable housing in Spain

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and European Investment Fund (EIF) are investing €93 mln in a green finance initiative with Spanish bank BBVA.

Eib bbva

This partnership will enable BBVA to provide approximately €185 mln in funding for small and medium-sized businesses and mid-sized companies to build near-zero emission residential buildings in Spain.
The EIB Group investment is backed by the EU's InvestEU program that aims to unlock over €372 bn in investment by 2027.
This allows BBVA to leverage the investment, providing better financing options for small and medium-sized businesses and mid-sized companies building energy-efficient, low-emission homes in Spain.
This initiative aims to support climate action, affordable housing, and regional development, particularly in less affluent areas.
This initiative is part of the EIB Group's commitment to developing innovative financial tools, such as securitization, which facilitate investment in green projects, mitigate risks for participating financial institutions, and bolster the EU's capital markets.
