Retail group Frasers Group has announced the acquisition of Braehead Shopping Centre, a premier retail and leisure destination located in Glasgow, Scotland.

Braehead Shopping Centre
The seller is SGS UK Retail and the acquisition is reportedly valued at £220 mln (€256.4 mln).
SGS UK Retail acquired Braehead in 2020 following the collapse of its previous owner, Intu.
The shopping centre encompasses over 1 million square feet and attracts an annual footfall of more than 15 million visitors, making it Scotland’s largest retail and leisure destination.
Opened in 1999, it houses more than 100 retailers, including major names like Ikea, Primark, and Marks & Spencer.
The purchase of Braehead, which serves the largest retail spend catchment in the UK outside of London, is a key component of Frasers Group's "Elevation Strategy," further strengthening its expanding property portfolio across the UK, where it owns the Sports Direct and Frasers department stores.
This acquisition further solidifies Frasers Group's presence in Scotland, complementing its ownership of the Overgate Centre in Dundee and the Waterfront Retail Park in Greenock, which it purchased in September.
Michael Murray, CEO of Frasers Group, commented: “This acquisition is an important step in delivering our property ambitions and accelerating the Elevation Strategy. It cements the Group’s position as a leading operator and champion of physical retail destinations while unlocking greater opportunities to serve communities with the best brands, environments and experiences possible.”
Frasers Group was advised by CBRE on this acquisition.
