This 10.1-hectare site, located 12.8 kilometres south of Cambridge and within the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, boasts excellent transport links via the M11.
The £162 mln (€186 mln) aviation innovation campus at IWM Duxford will encompass 40,410 m2 and aims to be a hub for academia, industry, and government, focusing on the development of low and zero-carbon aircraft technology. HBD is committed to achieving high sustainability standards for the campus, including BREEAM Excellent and an EPC A+ Rating.
Duxford AvTech is expected to generate substantial economic, environmental, and social advantages, including 1,200 new jobs and an estimated £64 mln (€73 mln) boost to the Cambridgeshire economy. The next phase involves preparing detailed development plans and engaging with partners to submit a planning application by year-end.
This project further enhances HBD's innovation portfolio, following the recent approval of the initial phase of the £1 bn (€1.1 bn) Golden Valley scheme in Cheltenham. That project will create approximately 92,900 m2 of commercial space, including IDEA, the 14,860 m2 National Cyber Innovation Centre, along with 576 residential units.
Tim Roberts, CEO at Henry Boot, commented: “HBD’s appointment at Duxford AvTech represents another important milestone for our property investment and development business. This is a transformative scheme that will unlock meaningful opportunities for the local economy and further strengthen Cambridge’s position as a global hub for research and innovation. We look forward to working alongside IWM and Gonville & Caius College to deliver this world-class advanced aviation technology cluster.”
