Global real estate investor Henderson Park has announced its plan to fund two new student housing developments in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland.

The projects, developed by Alumno Group, will create a total of 453 new student beds across both cities, with completion expected by the 2027-28 academic year.
The Edinburgh development, Jock's Lodge, will offer 191 beds and is conveniently located near the University of Edinburgh. The Glasgow project, St George's Road, will provide 262 beds within walking distance of several universities, including the University of Glasgow.
Both locations are strategically chosen to address the high demand for student accommodation in these cities, which host a significant number of university students and are projected to see continued growth in the student population, expected to reach 1.7 million by 2030.
The developments will feature high sustainability standards, aiming for BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings, and will include various amenities such as gyms, study rooms, dining areas, courtyards, and rooftop terraces.
Christophe Kuhbier, head of Investments, Europe, at Henderson Park, commented: “This transaction represents a rare opportunity to secure two derisked purpose-built student accommodation assets in prime, undersupplied locations at the last stage of their development cycle and at an attractive all-in entry cost. With international students continuing to be drawn to the UK’s world-leading universities, combined with a growing domestic student-age population, we believe the structural supply-demand imbalance is set to intensify over the coming years.”
David Campbell, founder and managing director of Alumno, added: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with a company as highly regarded and respected as Henderson Park, having built up a strong working relationship with the team, and we look forward to building on this exciting chapter for the company”
Henderson Park manages over 5,500 PBSA and BTR units across Europe.
