HighBrook Investors, a private equity real estate firm active in US and European growth markets, has appointed Claiborne Johnston as partner and global head of Private Capital Markets.

Claiborne Johnston
Johnston brings over twenty years of experience in real estate investment management and capital markets to HighBrook. Most recently, he was a managing director at Morgan Stanley's real assets investment management division, where he focused on raising equity capital for real estate, private infrastructure, and private debt strategies. He started his career at Morgan Stanley, spending more than a decade in their real estate investment banking group, arranging private capital solutions for various public and private real estate private equity sponsors.
In this new role, Johnston will be responsible for leading HighBrook's fundraising, capital formation, and investor relations, supporting the firm's ongoing expansion in the US and Europe. His appointment comes as HighBrook continues to increase its investment activities and strengthen ties with institutional investors worldwide, driven by a growing demand for unique real estate and special situations investment strategies.
Brian Carr, managing partner and co-founder at HighBrook Investors, commented: “Claiborne brings deep experience raising capital across real asset strategies and has built longstanding relationships with a broad range of institutional investors, including pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations and family offices. As we continue to scale the firm and expand our global investor base, his expertise, strategic perspective and network will be invaluable in supporting HighBrook’s next phase of growth.”
Claiborne Johnston added: “HighBrook has built a highly differentiated platform with a clear investment philosophy and strong momentum across both the US and Europe. The combination of institutional-quality execution and an entrepreneurial culture creates an exciting platform for future growth and one that I believe is exceptionally well-positioned to succeed in the current market. I’m excited to join the team at such an important stage in the firm’s evolution.”
This announcement also coincides with several key leadership promotions within HighBrook. They include Shannon Cornell, who has been named global head of Human Capital & Corporate Services, and Bobby Barrett, now global head of Finance & Portfolio Management.
