HOK Elanto and Skanska team up on Finnish mixed-use project

Finnish retail group HOK-Elanto has announced the start of construction of a mixed-use project in Espoo.

Prisma Espoo Centre, Espoo

The 30,000 m2 Prismakeksus development, built on land purchased from the City of Espoo next to the existing S-market, will include a new Prisma hypermarket, various smaller shops, extensive parking, and two residential apartment buildings containing 105 units.
The new Prisma will be a single-level store connected to the Entresse shopping centre. The current S-market will close and be demolished to make way for the new complex. The two seven-storey residential buildings (offering both owner-occupied and rental units), privately financed, will be located above the retail spaces, offering residents direct access to the Prismakeskus and Entresse. A green courtyard will also be built on the roof of the retail premises.
The project benefits from excellent transport links, including the upcoming city rail line and a new bus terminal. 
Construction work will start in February. Skanska has secured a €60 mln (SEK 660 mln) contract as the construction partner, with completion expected in 2028.
The project is designed to meet Rakennustieto's environmental standards, focusing on energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and site operations. 
Timo Myllynen, property director at HOK-Elanto, said: “We will be able to launch a new hypermarket project in the central location of Espoo city centre. When completed, Prismakeskus will strengthen the area's offering, and the block will develop into a diverse city block.”
When completed, Prisma Espoo Centre will be HOK-Elanto's 18th Prisma and the fifth Prisma in Espoo.
