Romanian real estate company Iulius is investing €28 mln in its third Family Market convenience retail project, located in Tomești Commune, Iași County.

Family Market - Iulius
The Tomești location is a prime spot due to recent residential growth in the metropolitan area. The upcoming Family Market will offer approximately 16,000 m², offering a wide array of shopping, green spaces, sports facilities, everyday services, and leisure options.
The project is expected to draw from a trade area of 55,000 people within a 10-minute drive as well as shoppers from the Republic of Moldova across the border. The approval and permitting process is currently underway, with construction slated to begin by the end of 2025 and completion estimated for Q4 2026.
Family Market Tomești will feature a supermarket alongside fashion, sports, and home & decor stores, a pet shop, drugstore, medical services, hair salon and barbershop, grocery, confectionery, butcher, tailor and alterations, dry cleaner, gardening supplies, and a flower shop.
The project will include a children's playground, gym, drive-thru restaurant, food service options, and coffee shops, as well as 450 parking spaces, bicycle parking, and electric vehicle charging stations.
Radu Pârlea, Family Market Shopping Center manager, commented: “The first such projects in Miroslava and Bucium registered up to 33% sales increases in 2024 compared to 2023, while the number of visitors increased by up to approximately 40%. This is because, alongside the retailers and the locals, we managed to propose a mix of services and products customized to the needs of the communities we address, combining popular brands and local producers, with more than 50% of the tenants being local entrepreneurs. Our experience to date will be applied to Family Market Tomești, a destination that will make life easier for families and provide them with convenient access to the facilities typical of a modern urban lifestyle.”
This new development expands on the existing Family Market centres in Miroslava Commune and the Bucium neighborhood of Iași, managed through a 50-50 joint venture between Iulius Group and Romanian-American investment group W&E Assets.
