Kajima Properties Europe strengthens development team

Kajima Properties Europe (KPE) has appointed Ian Patillo as senior development manager.

Patillo brings ten years of experience in real estate development, land acquisition, and project delivery, with a proven track record in both the UK and international markets. In his new role, he will concentrate on development opportunities in London and the UK that require significant planning, working across KPE's diverse pipeline of projects in workspace, logistics, and living sectors.

He joins KPE from Landsec, where he served as development manager, overseeing major London schemes from start to finish. His expertise spans design coordination, planning, legal negotiations, ESG strategy, stakeholder engagement, and financial management, guiding projects from initial feasibility to early delivery phases. Notably, his recent work includes high-profile, office-led developments like Hill House and 55 Old Broad Street in the City of London, with a strong focus on achieving net-zero carbon and other ESG goals.

Before his time at Landsec, Patillo worked at Turner & Townsend and Wesgroup Properties in Vancouver, Canada. At Wesgroup, he was responsible for delivering large master-planned communities and mixed-use developments with a total construction value exceeding £1 bn.

Based in KPE's London office, Patillo will collaborate closely with Phil McLaughlin (head of Project Management), Tim James (investment director), and the broader development and investment teams. His initial focus will be leading two of KPE's planning-intensive commercial development projects in central London: 1 St John’s Square in Farringdon and 27 Soho Square in Soho, where KPE plans extensive reimagining and sensitive expansion of both buildings.
