This project highlights Student Depot's growth as the leading student accommodation provider in Poland.
The building, designed to meet BREEAM Very Good standards, will have eight floors with over 7,600 m2 of space, including 750 m2 for amenities like a gym, workspaces, and a winter garden. Pekabex is the main contractor, and the residence is expected to open in September 2027.
This new development, along with a project in Warsaw, is part of Student Depot's expansion strategy, adding over 1,100 beds and bringing its total capacity to over 5,600 student beds. Since 2019, KPE has established Student Depot as Poland's largest student housing platform with nine completed developments, and they are exploring further opportunities in other European markets.
Jan Trybulski, head of Poland at Kajima Europe, said: “Starting construction in Gdańsk is another important step in the continued expansion of our Student Depot portfolio. The city is a key market for our core strategy and, with a limited availability of high-quality student accommodation, offers a significant long-term opportunity to leverage KPE’s development expertise.”
Michal Obara, managing director, Student Depot, added: “Breaking ground at our second facility in Gdańsk underlines Student Depot’s continued growth, supported by KPE, across Poland’s key markets. Our experience as Poland's largest developer and operator of PBSA gives us confidence that the scheme will be delivered successfully to provide modern, safe and comfortable accommodation that meets the expectations of our residents.”
