M Core acquires two UK retail centres for regeneration

M Core, through its retail asset management arm Sheet Anchor Evolve, has acquired two retail centres: The Forum in Wallsend and Newkirkgate in Leith, Edinburgh.

The Forum

The Forum

Sheet Anchor Evolve will manage and transform both properties, focusing on regeneration.
The Forum, a 17,608 m² convenience center with 47 units, is anchored by major retailers like Aldi, Boots, Iceland, and Home Bargains. Sheet Anchor Evolve plans to improve its tenant mix, reduce vacancies, and enhance the shopping experience through strategic investment.
Newkirkgate, located in Leith near Edinburgh city centre, is an 8,720 m² mixed-use development featuring 16 retail units, office space, and a large Lidl. It also houses popular convenience retailers such as Poundland, Superdrug, British Heart Foundation, Greggs, and Costa, benefiting from its vibrant community setting.
Danny O’Keefe, co-founder at Sheet Anchor Evolve, commented: "These acquisitions demonstrate our ability to identify strong opportunities where we can deliver real value. Both The Forum and Newkirkgate play an important role in their communities, and we see great potential to reposition and enhance these assets. With our in-house expertise in asset and property management, leasing, and development, we’re confident we can create destinations that work for occupiers and customers alike."
These recent acquisitions align with M Core's strategy to invest in strategically located retail properties that offer growth potential through active management. The group now oversees more than 929,030 m² of retail space throughout the UK, as part of its broader £6 bn (€6.9 bn) European portfolio that includes retail, logistics, business parks, residential, and office assets.
