She succeeds Jaap van der Bijl, who is retiring on 21 September after a decade in the role. The Management Board now comprises Marleen Bosma-Verhaegh, Erwin Wessels (CIO), and Cyril van den Hoogen (CFO).

During his ten-year tenure, Jaap van der Bijl was crucial in Altera's development and growth, solidifying its position as a prominent real estate investor focused on sustainable value creation. He also successfully expanded Altera's international investor base and significantly strengthened both the Altera Residential Fund and the Altera Retail Fund. Notably, he spearheaded the Altera Retail Fund's strategic shift towards convenience retail and attracted international investors.

Marleen Bosma-Verhaegh brings extensive experience from the real estate and investment sectors. Since 2016, she has held various senior roles at Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors, including head of Research & Strategic Advisory and director of Strategic Business Development. In 2022, she joined Bouwinvest's management board as chief client officer, overseeing investor relations, business investment, and capital internationalisation. Her prior experience includes real estate investments, strategy, and research roles at Blue Sky Group, Achmea Real Estate, the Philips Pension Fund, and FGH Bank.

Jaap van der Bijl commented: “Together, we’ve built a future-proof portfolio and strong organisation, with a clear focus on sustainable value creation for our investors. In recent years, we’ve further strengthened and expanded our funds with high-quality sustainable homes for a range of target groups and convenience retail in demographically strong catchment areas.”

Marleen Bosma-Verhaegh added: “I look forward to working with the team to build on the strong foundations laid in recent years. Altera has a clear strategy, with a strong focus on sustainable value creation and an active role in the connection between capital and the societal challenges we face in housing and retail. I look forward to continuing this strategy and further strengthening our position for investors and partners.”
