MEAG buys logistics asset in Potsdam from Aurelis Real Estate

German asset manager MEAG, part of Munich Re Group, has bought a newly built logistics property in Potsdam, Germany, from Aurelis Real Estate for an undisclosed price.

The 10,760 m2 property at Drewitzer Straße 51, situated on a 51,000 m2, is leased long-term to parcel delivery company GLS and serves as a parcel distribution centre. 
MEAG's purchase was influenced by the property's sustainable features, including district heating, a large solar panel system, rainwater harvesting, and high energy efficiency. These features will support GLS's plan to transition its delivery fleet to electric vehicles powered by the on-site solar energy.
Katrin Hupfauer, head of Real Estate Transactions, MEAG, said: 'With this acquisition, we can add a new, long-term leased logistics property to our portfolio in Germany in a sought-after logistics location. Due to the increasing importance of e-commerce, logistics is a type of use we are happy to invest in.'
