Mitiska REIM, the specialist investor in European convenience real estate, has expanded its partnership with next‑generation self‑storage operator Storo through the opening of two new facilities in Antwerp and Evere.

Storo, Evere
The openings form part of a wider rollout of the Storo concept across Belgium, targeting both consumer and business customers through a fully digital, keyless and app‑managed storage model.
The new Antwerp facility on Noorderlaan is Storo’s largest site to date, offering 750 units across 5,000 sq m of rentable space, alongside 1,500 sq m of wholesale storage and two 450 sq m SME units. The asset is owned by Storo Propco, in which MEREP 3 has invested since March 2023.
In Evere, on the northern outskirts of Brussels near NATO headquarters, Storo has opened a 2,500 sq m facility comprising 377 units ranging from 1–30 sq m. The building is owned by a third party and operated by Storo, complementing existing sites in Groot‑Bijgaarden and Zaventem.
Both projects involved the refurbishment and repurposing of existing buildings in accessible urban locations, converting them into modern, sustainable self‑storage facilities targeting BREEAM Very Good certification.
These openings bring Storo’s Belgian network to seven sites, with additional facilities in Brecht, Mechelen, Roeselare, Groot‑Bijgaarden and Zaventem. A further Mechelen site is scheduled to open early next year, and permits have been approved for new locations in Wilrijk and Ghent.
Lennert De Bruyn, Managing Director of Storo, said demand continues to grow from both consumers seeking additional space and businesses looking for alternatives to traditional warehousing or temporary storage. He highlighted the appeal of Storo’s digital booking and flexible operating model.
Bart Rabaey, Chief Investment Strategy Officer at Mitiska REIM, said the European self‑storage market offers a compelling investment opportunity, combining rising demand with a fragmented and underserved supply base. He noted that early‑stage opportunities in next‑generation storage present strong potential to unlock value in a dynamic and growing real estate segment.
