NEPI Rockcastle secures green loan to accelerate CEE sustainability investment

NEPI Rockcastle has signed a €250 million senior unsecured green term loan facility with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, providing long‑dated capital to support the company’s environmental investment programme across its Central and Eastern European retail portfolio.

The facility matures in 2034 and is fully committed and available for drawdown until March 2027.

The EBRD, one of Europe’s leading international financial institutions, invests where its capital can deliver value beyond commercial markets. For NEPI Rockcastle, the partnership provides long‑term green funding and institutional support for both asset‑level improvements and employee development, a signal of confidence in the quality of the company’s portfolio and its position as one of the region’s strongest borrowers.

In line with NEPI Rockcastle’s Green Finance Framework, an amount equal to the net proceeds will be allocated to eligible green projects that enhance the environmental performance of the company’s assets and advance its climate transition objectives. The framework is aligned with the ICMA Green Bond Principles and the LMA Green Loan Principles. Eligible projects must achieve internationally recognised green building certification or deliver measurable improvements in low‑carbon installations and energy efficiency, supporting the company’s ambition to deliver more sustainable retail destinations across CEE.

The facility complements NEPI Rockcastle’s existing bond and bank financing, diversifying funding sources, extending the maturity profile and strengthening liquidity. It provides the headroom to continue investing across the company’s growth pillars through the cycle and into the next phase of expansion.

Eliza Predoiu, Chief Financial Officer of NEPI Rockcastle, said the facility represents long‑term capital with a clear purpose, strengthening the company’s funding base and accelerating a green investment programme already underway. She added that the financing reflects confidence in NEPI Rockcastle’s strategy as it builds and manages the next generation of retail destinations across fast‑growing CEE markets.

Dentons advised NEPI Rockcastle on the transaction.
