Newmark Group, Inc. (NMRK) has announced the opening of its main office in Milan, expanding its presence in Italy.

Luca de Ambrosis Ortigara and Silvio Sancilio
The company has appointed Luca de Ambrosis Ortigara, a prominent figure in the industry, as executive managing director, and Silvio Sancilio as managing director for Italy. Both bring extensive market knowledge and client relationships, with a proven track record of advising investors in Italy's major markets.
Initially, Newmark's Italian operations will concentrate on Capital Markets, Agency Leasing, and Logistics, which are the fastest-growing sectors in Italy's commercial real estate market. This expansion reinforces Newmark's existing business activities in Italy, including Rome and Naples.
De Ambrosis has vast experience advising global institutional capital, developers, and occupiers throughout Italy. His career includes capital markets, leasing, and strategic advisory. Before joining Newmark, he was a partner at Cushman & Wakefield and held senior leadership positions at Pirelli Real Estate, where he gained expertise in corporate structuring, capital allocation, and growth strategy.
He also served as partner and managing diretor at McArthurGlen and supported Apollo Global Management's entry into Italy as a strategic partner. De Ambrosis was instrumental in the acquisition of the ENPAM portfolio, a €900 mln deal involving 67 assets, one of Italy's largest real estate transactions in the last two decades.
Barry Gosin, CEO, commented: “As Italy is anchored by global capital flows, strong domestic institutions and growing demand from multinational occupiers, the country remains one of Europe’s most important real estate, industrial and logistics markets. This marks an important milestone in Newmark’s long-term strategy to build a fully integrated European advisory business.”
Separately, Newmark facilitated the sale of the Katamaran office building, located at Biberger Straße 37 in Unterhaching. The Otto Group sold the property to Binnberg Architekturentwicklung, a Munich-based company.
The Katamaran building, approximately 10,000 m2, was formerly the headquarters of SportScheck. Newmark is assisting the new owner with the building's transformation and is also managing the leasing of the units, with some leases already under negotiation.
Situated in the southern suburbs of Munich, the Katamaran benefits from a mix of residential and commercial areas, along with good public transportation access.
