Nordic real estate firm Nrep has expanded its residential holdings with the SEK 485 mln (€45 mln) purchase of 231 new rental apartments in Årsta, Uppsala, Sweden.

Developed and sold by residential developer Bonava, the five-building project emphasizes sustainability, featuring solar panels, green concrete, and optimized material selection to reduce its carbon footprint by 20% during construction.
Located near Årsta Park, the apartments offer access to amenities, schools, and transportation. The project also includes a commercial space designed to enhance the urban environment.
To reduce the project's environmental impact, Bonava and Nrep have implemented several sustainable practices, including using solar panels, green concrete, and carefully chosen materials. These measures are expected to lower carbon dioxide emissions during construction by 20% compared to the initial plan, and support Nrep's sustainability goals for 2028.
Carl-Adam von Schéele, head of Nrep Sweden, commented: ‘Uppsala has experienced significant population growth, leading to a housing supply and demand imbalance. This acquisition strengthens our partnership with Bonava while providing more modern and sustainable rental apartments in a high-demand area. By combining superior housing quality with a focus on sustainability, we aim to create value for both residents and the city’s development.”
Michael Björklund, Business Unit manager Bonava Sweden, added: “Uppsala is in need of new housing, and we are pleased to collaborate with Nrep in delivering additional rental apartments for current and future generations. With our extensive experience in creating attractive and sustainable neighbourhoods, we continue to play a role in the city’s growth.”
Bonava is overseeing the development and construction of the project, with construction set to begin shortly. The first homes are expected to be ready in Q2 2026.
