Nyoo Real Estate, a subsidiary of the Instone Group, has acquired a 9,700 m² commercial plot in Schorndorf's Weiler district from Oskar Frech & Co.

Weiler district of Schorndorf
The company plans to transform this site into a new, energy-efficient residential neighbourhood featuring approximately 120 apartments. This development aims to contribute to Schorndorf's inner-city revitalisation while preserving the original FRECH Group building for continued company use. Future planning will be conducted in close collaboration with the City of Schorndorf.
The proposed neighbourhood will consist of several residential buildings encircling a landscaped inner courtyard, complete with shared recreational and play areas. The design includes a diverse mix of compact and family-sized, barrier-free apartments, many of which will qualify for public funding programs. A strong emphasis is placed on sustainability, with plans for heat pumps, photovoltaic systems, and extensive green roofs to enhance the local microclimate. The project targets the KfW Efficiency House 40 standard, ensuring long-term stable operating and ancillary costs for residents.
The Schorndorf Weiler district offers excellent local amenities, including an S-Bahn station with direct links to Stuttgart, local shops, schools, and daycare centres—all within walking distance. Its location in the Remstal region provides both natural beauty and easy access to Schorndorf's historic old town and the economically robust Stuttgart metropolitan area.
Stefan Dahlmanns, managing director of Nyoo Real Estate, said: “In Schorndorf, we are planning a residential development that integrates into the existing urban fabric, meets high energy standards and offers a home to people with a variety of lifestyles. The acquisition further strengthens our development pipeline in the Stuttgart metropolitan region and allows us to respond to the high demand for housing. Standardised and efficient processes help to support cost efficiency while ensuring planning and product reliability.”
Alexander Marks, managing director of the FRECH Group, added: “This site has accompanied our company for many decades, and it remains part of our history and our future. The planned further development offers the opportunity to make the best possible use of the location in the interest of both the company and the city. We are pleased to have found a partner in nyoo with whom we will develop the neighbourhood in close coordination on site, with clear focus on quality and sustainability – values that we share.”
Construction for this latest project is slated to begin around late 2027 or early 2028.
