Skanska has announced two residential developments in the Nordic region with a total contract value of SEK 600 mln (€53.6 mln).

Uppsala, Sweden - Skanska
In Sweden, Skanska is investing SEK 250 mln (€22.3 mln) in the third and final phase of the Närheten block in Kungsängen, Uppsala. This development will consist of 66 condominiums ranging from one to five rooms, most featuring private balconies or patios. The project also includes three commercial premises to serve the local community.
The buildings will be constructed using concrete with a lower climate impact, while energy efficiency is prioritised through high-performance facades and windows. To further reduce energy costs and environmental footprints, the roofs will be equipped with solar cells and waste heat exchangers. Consistent with Skanska’s Swedish housing portfolio, the project will be certified according to the Nordic Ecolabel.
Construction is slated to begin in February 2026, with occupancy expected in the fall of 2027.
Simultaneously, Skanska has secured a contract with the City of Helsinki to construct a large-scale rental housing project, valued at €32 mln (SEK 350 mln).
The Helsinki project involves the construction of two residential buildings, standing six and eight stories high, totalling 11,900 m2. The development will offer 182 rental apartments, including 20 units specifically designed to support residents with special needs.
The project aims for a three-star rating under the Rakennustieto environmental classification. This certification ensures high standards for indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and sustainable site operations.
Work in Helsinki is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025, with a target completion date of autumn 2027.
