This initiative marks South Bay's expansion in the Nordic logistics sector, following acquisitions in Malmö and Västerås.
The first stage involves demolishing an existing structure to make way for a sustainable, modern logistics facility. A major tenant, John Bean Technology Marel (JBT), has already signed a 15-year lease for 22,000 m2. The new space will house their headquarters, production, warehousing, and a freezer centre, with relocation planned for 2027.
Additionally, a 12,000 m2 cold storage facility on the site is being renovated for immediate lease, offering flexible and high-standard options for tenants.
The final phase entails constructing 31,000 m2 of adaptable logistics space in a prime location, suitable for single or multiple occupants. The entire project is slated for completion by 2028, and all buildings will meet BREEAM Excellent certification standards.
The Helsingborg park, located on Rausgård 22, offers proximity to the port and the city centre, with easy access to road and rail.
Anders Lassing, senior VP & general manager at JBT, said: “We look forward to consolidating our operations in a high-quality, state-of-the-art facility tailored to our needs. The location in Helsingborg is strategic for our business and will strengthen our capacity for the future. We are pleased to partner with South Bay, which has provided innovative solutions to meet our demanding technical requirements in a highly professional way.”
Felix Paljak, CIO and partner at South Bay, added: “Helsingborg has long been a prime logistics hub for the Nordic region. Being able to develop a new generation of logistics buildings in such a central location, where land for new development is scarce, and in close cooperation with a long-term and ambitious tenant, is fully aligned with our strategy. The central location of the new logistics park offers a unique value proposition.”
Real Advokatbyrå and Svalner advised South Bay on the transaction.
