VGP achieves top sustainability milestones

Belgian logistics real estate developer VGP has announced significant sustainability achievements, including setting a new global record for BREEAM certification.

Notably, Building B in VGP Park Arad, Romania, achieved a BREEAM Outstanding certification with a score of 96.3%, the highest BREEAM International New Construction score ever awarded to an industrial building worldwide. This achievement stems from an energy-efficient and airtight building envelope, a solar system capable of meeting the building's operational energy needs and part of its production energy, and smart building technologies for environmental monitoring. The 21,000 m² building, developed for VAT Group, also prioritized user wellbeing with optimized thermal and acoustic conditions, inclusive design, and amenities like a gym, canteen, and green leisure areas.
Additionally, VGP Park Legnano, Italy, a 22,000 m² facility near Milan, became the first building in Italy across all use categories to receive a BREEAM Outstanding certificate. Its sustainable features include a 1 MWp solar system, a green façade, 8,000 m² of landscaped areas, energy-efficient systems, and flexible office designs. Furthermore, the park was developed on a regenerated urban site, the former Cantoni Cotton Mill, promoting sustainable land use.
VGP aims for BREEAM Excellent as its minimum standard, and half of all buildings delivered in the first half of 2025 have already achieved BREEAM Outstanding certification.
